School chaplain

As well as a school counsellor the school also has a Chaplain position. We have had a chaplain at the school since 2007 and many individuals and families have benefitted from the support that has been available to them through this program.

The program provides two additional days of counselling and welfare support for students and their families. This position is currently held by Mrs Leanne Ewels and she can be contacted at the school on Tuesday and Wednesday each week. Permission to see the Chaplain is required and so forms are available at the school office for this purpose.

Some of the activities run through this program include:

  • Individual support sessions
  • Social Skills Groups
  • Self Esteem Groups
  • Lunch time fun (FUNCH)
  • Craft activities
  • Family Support
  • Attend Learning Support meetings

The Chaplain can also be available to provide extra supervsion on excursions and help out at whole school activities such as special event days and carnivals.

Having a Chaplain as part of the staff at Miranda North has become a natural and vital part of who we are and what we do.
