Starting Kindergarten in 2027
At Miranda North Public School, we want every child to feel known, welcomed and excited as they begin their journey with us.
Our Starting North – Kindergarten Transition Program is designed to build confidence, connection and a sense of belonging before the first day of Kindergarten. Through orientation and play sessions, children become familiar with our teachers, students, learning spaces and school routines, while families have opportunities to connect with our school community and learn more about life at MNPS.
Together, we want every child and family to feel ready to start, ready to belong and ready to thrive at Miranda North.
Discovery North tours
Future Kindergarten students and their families are invited to attend a tour of the school led by our principal, Matthew Ackerman.
These Discovery Tours are available every Tuesday during Terms 2 and 3, from 9.30am-10.30am

Our Starting North transition program consists of a series of events to help you and your child become familiar with our school environment and learning in the classrooms. See below for the events that are part of this program:
Preschool Open Day - Wednesday 6 May 9:30am-10:30am
Discover Miranda North
An opportunity for preschool children and their families to visit MNPS, explore our Kindergarten spaces, meet our team and discover what starting school at Miranda North can look like.
Once enrolled, families move into:
Orientation Session 1 - Discover Miranda North - Thursday 22 October 2.00pm-3.00pm
Come and discover what makes MNPS a great place to start school. Families can explore our interactive discovery tables, meet staff and learn about Kindergarten, learning and support, uniforms, OOSH, our P&C and everyday school life.
Orientation Session 2 - Getting Ready for Kindergarten - Wednesday 4 November 10.00am-11.00am
Everything you need to help your child get ready for their first year of school. While children spend time with our Kindergarten teachers, families will hear practical advice about school readiness, routines, learning, wellbeing and what to expect when Kindergarten begins.
Kinder Play Session 1 - Thursday 12 November 2.00pm-3.00pm
A relaxed opportunity for our 2027 Kindergarten children to experience school before they start. Children will join our current Kindergarten students for play, activities and friendship-building while becoming familiar with the people, spaces and routines of MNPS.
